The Difference Of Cabin And Cottage Rentals

January 25th, 2012

Need a break and want to get away? But where will you stay and what are your options. You’ve narrowed it down to cabins or cottages as you feel one of them will best fit your needs. To begin the decision process, make a comparison list of features and see which one comes out ahead.

The main difference of cabin and cottage rentals is in the name only according to the dictionary. Although, each one conjures up a slightly different mind’s eye view when using the word cabin or cottage. When thinking cabin, a more rustic unit may come to mind in a woodsy setting. Cottage on the other hand may have one thinking of a more petite-type of temporary living unit off the beaten path and possibly near a beach? Whichever your choice, the lodging units of both cabin or cottage have come a long way in terms of modernization. Both are similar to what may be considered a small house.

Many options in number of bedrooms and bathrooms, furnishings and appliances to name a few. Some offer the option to bring your pet along with permission of course and usually with an additional fee. If renting as a family you will want to choose not only the number of required bedrooms and baths, but how functional the kitchen will be to suit your needs. Access by first level or steps required to reach a second floor if there is a handicapped member along? And, how safe is the property surrounding the unit if small children might wander off? Is it gated, fenced? Is there a pool or body of water close by where a child may need constant supervision? If driving to the destination is your choice, is there ample room to park?

Also, make sure to take into consideration what activities you will want to take in while staying at your unit of choice. One of the last (but not least) things to think about to distinguish the difference of the cabin or cottage rental you choose is, price. Is it within your budget? The choice is yours.
